Exilis – The Alternative to the Scalpel

The Exilis treatment provides an excellent alternative to the traditional, scalpel based, cosmetic procedures, for removing unwanted body fat. Being noninvasive, it is safe and there is no recovery time required after the procedure. This FDA approved technique is also extremely effective in reducing skin laxity and restricting the appearance of age related wrinkles and lines.
The Way Exilis Works
The Exilis machine works using Radio Frequency Waves. It has two heads that work to simultaneously remove fat from the body and also tighten the skin of the treated area.

Radio Frequency waves are a type of electromagnetic energy that are commonly used in a variety of medical procedures. Exilis introduces this technology for the reduction of body fat. When radio waves are applied to the skin they penetrate it and enter the layers of fat underneath. The fat cells have a very high resistance to the radio waves, in comparison to the surrounding tissues. Typically the fat’s resistance is 2180 Ohm and that of muscle is 110 Ohm. It is this higher resistance that causes the fat cells to heat when radio waves are applied. This heating increases the metabolic activity of the fat cells leading to their softening and eventual melting. This melted fat is absorbed by the lymphatic system and eventually is excreted. In addition, to directly melting body fat, the radio waves also increase the production of collagen and heat shock proteins that provokes additional shrinkage of the fatty tissue.

When, the ultrasound waves enter the fatty tissue, they cause microscopic air bubbles to develop around the membranes of the fat cells. This increases the pressure around the cells. Due to the high pressure the cell tissue and the tissue connecting the cells undergo a change. Along with this the arrangement of the collagen fibers in the tissue is also altered.  When this happens the membrane of the cells break down leading to their destruction. Besides this, the ultrasound has been proven to have a direct effect on the cells leading to what is known as apoptosis, the programmed self-destruction of the fat cells by breaking down the DNA in the nucleus of the cells.

Taken together the dual effects of Exilis treatment offers a quantum leap in the way that unwanted fat can be removed from the body.
Areas That Can Be Treated
Exilis can be used on almost any part of the body. Among the most popular areas that are treated are the:
  • Waist
  • Buttocks
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Inner knees
  • Breasts
  • Arms
  • Neck
  • Face
  • male breasts
Treatment Process
A typical course of Exilis treatment involves 4 to 6 sessions at intervals of 7 to 10 days. Each session will take 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the areas that is to be treated. Results are normally noticeable in 4 weeks and continue to improve over the next 3 months as this is the time taken for the fat to completely exit the body and the collagen to form.
What Exilis offers to the Patient
  • Removal of sub dermal fat from specifically targeted areas of the body
  • Toning and contouring of the body
  • Dynamic tightening of the skin
